Meet the Team
Christopher Cook, Producer
Christopher is 6’6” corn-fed Iowa farm-boy who moved to Kansas City, MO in 2008 to start Brainroot Light & Sound. He has a bombastic persona, a hardy laugh, and a keen interest in hearing peoples’ stories. His interests follow his passions, which circle around dedicated self-starters, civic engagement, community building, and cocktails. He believes that education and dialogue are the keys to mutual prosperity, and he just plain doesn't understand sports.
Nathaniel Bozarth, Ethnographer / Journalist
Nathaniel grew up in Olathe, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, with an early interest in diversity and equality due to the heterogeneity of his surroundings. At his high school, Olathe North, one in three students were non-white. His interests in cultural difference led him to study anthropology at Kansas State University, where he co-led a small campus group focused on bringing together individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds and worked part time for an organization that built schools in the Middle East. This background eventually led him to inquire about working on the Your Fellow Americans project. Here, he uses his anthropological spunk to give his best at understanding and studying the makeup of America within the constructs of race, immigration, and the American Dream.
Marvita Oliver, Production Assistant
Marvita hails from Macon, GA, home of Otis Redding and James Brown, to name a few. Her family moved to Overland Park. Talk about culture shock! She adjusted to snow and being one of the few black students in the district. She attended an historically black college in Mississippi. Talk about culture shock! She adjusted again and eventually moved to Africa where she was a volunteer/consultant. Talk about culture shock!… With new respect for the US and different cultures, she's back stateside - Talk about cultural exchange! Being part of Your Fellow Americans allows her to do just that.
