'Disbelief, ANGER, fear, loving family support'
Sara Wallace of Kansas City, Missouri, said she’s “special that way” because she has been diagnosed with two different types of breast cancer.“Cancer has changed me. It has made me stronger spiritually, while making me weaker physically. It has taken away my sexuality, my femininity, my fertility. It has aged me. But it has also made me more patient, more empathetic and more willing to be loved.
“I listened, but I also trusted. My cancer care team was awesome. (It) provided me with information: sometimes too much, sometimes just enough. I really never worried about cost. I have private insurance. The most expensive part has truly been the reconstruction part. NOW, I am worried financially.
“I soooooo wish that I had found Gilda's Club sooner for more emphasis on seeking support outside my family and friends.
“It was a time of disbelief and overwhelming fear. I beat the hell out of a Dammit Doll and cried a lot. It took me a while, but I found support through my family, friends and Gilda's Club.”
