Kansas City, MO - Kansas City PBS presents "The Stadium Tax Debate," a Week in Review special and town hall event on the upcoming Jackson County vote on the ⅜-cent sales tax to help fund a new baseball stadium and renovate Arrowhead Stadium. 

Explore the potential implications of a 'yes' or 'no' vote with moderator Nick Haines and contemplate the future of Kansas City’s sports infrastructure by joining us for the live discussion on March 19 at 6 p.m. at the Kansas City Public Library-Plaza Branch. Tune into the follow-up broadcast on Friday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m. on Kansas City PBS Channel 19.1

After back-to-back Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl victories and the anticipation of the Royals' upcoming baseball season, attention is now turning to this crucial vote that could significantly impact the future of the iconic Truman Sports Complex. 

The town hall discussion will feature a panel of experts, including former Kansas City Mayor and campaign strategist  Sly James; former Kansas City Councilmember and Committee Against New Royals Stadium Taxes Chair Becky Nace; Better Cities Project co-founder Patrick Tuohey;author and baseball historian Gary Sarnoff; and Kansas City Royals' Executive Vice President Sarah Tourville. 

The town hall discussion will cover the Chiefs and Royals’ pledge to remain in Jackson County if the sales tax garners support and explore the possibility of a new downtown baseball stadium.
